Off to Hakata: Our Indigo Cape Heads to the Fukuoka Design Award 2026 Final
Tomorrow, we head from Kurume to Hakata.
Our striped indigo cape, Tabisuru Ai to Cape, has been nominated for the 2026 Fukuoka Design Award. The final judging takes place on November 5.
Two panels of cloth. Twelve buttons. Less than 200 grams.
The design uses the full width of Kurume Kasuri fabric—approximately 38 cm—with no cutting offcuts. Change the way you fasten the buttons, and the cape becomes a stole or a shirt.
One piece, shaped by the weather, your mood, and wherever the day takes you.
At IKI LUCA, we create journey wear from the weaving and indigo traditions of our home region. This cape is one way of carrying that craft forward—into journeys near and far, and into everyday life.
Tomorrow, we will share the thinking behind it, and the work that makes it possible.
If you are in Fukuoka, come and see it in person.
