The air is cool when you step outside. By midday, the sun feels almost like summer. A long-sleeved shirt seems right at breakfast, but a few hours later, you are rolling up the sleeves.
Here in Kurume, southern Japan, we know these days well. Along the Chikugo River, the sunlight still holds the warmth of summer, while the breeze carries the first hints of autumn.
For days like these, we reach for a three-quarter sleeve shirt.
A Little Less Sleeve, a Little More Ease
Three-quarter sleeves leave your wrists free.
You can wash your hands or make a meal without pushing your sleeves out of the way. The shorter sleeve also brings a lightness to the way the shirt looks and feels.
Our shirts are made from Kurume Kasuri, a traditional woven textile from our hometown in Japan. Made from 100% cotton, the fabric feels light and breathable, with room for air to move between cloth and skin.
It is an easy companion for an afternoon walk, a train journey, or a day spent exploring somewhere new.
Easy to Layer, Easy to Live With
When the morning is cool, add a jacket or cardigan. As the day warms up, wear the shirt on its own.
The shorter sleeves sit comfortably beneath another layer, with less fabric gathering at the cuffs. Worn open over a T-shirt, the shirt itself becomes a light layer.
It is machine washable and dries readily, making it easy to care for at home or while travelling. Follow the care instructions for your shirt, especially for naturally indigo-dyed pieces.
Wear it, wash it, wear it again. With time, the cotton grows softer and more familiar.
